American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comedic perspective before increasing her presence in Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents in Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was the first instrument she played for her. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop training began as she was just a teenager. In college, she focused on her studies and studied women's studies and journalism. In a short period during her time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. It wasn't until she graduated that she begin to concentrate on music. The track My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a viral hit via the Internet and eventually appeared on her first LP Yellow Ranger. It also included other viral hits like the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The last track was closely linked to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide published in 2015. She decided to pursue acting as a profession after completing her first two ventures as a musician and author. She has appeared in films such as Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in the year 2018, with several movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's Eight as well as Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
