Gabriel Salazar Vergara was born on January 31, 1936. Vergara is Chilean history. His country is well-known due to his sociology studies and his theories of movement. Particularly, he was prominent during the protests by students of 2011-12 and 2006. Salazar was born in a class-less family. He studied historical along with sociology and philosophy during his time at Universidad de Chile, and for time he was the assistant to the historian Mario Gongora and classical historian Hector Herrera Cajas. (1) Salazar was associated with the Revolutionary Left Movement until 1973. [2] In that year Salazar was tortured at Villa Grimaldi by the military. 2] After his release from a prison for soldiers in 1976 , he moved into exile to The United Kingdom. In the United Kingdom, he was granted a scholarship for continued studies in University of Hull. He was awarded the distinction of receiving a PhD from the University of Hull of Hull in Economic and Social History. In the following year, he returned Chile. Salazar was relatively unknown up until 1985 when he made his first breakthrough. Salazar's subject of study included peons, labourers and children their huachos[A] along with women. Salazar is the founder of Nueva Historia Social which is the name of a current in history. Salazar regards history as an instrument for the social sphere.
